When going on a family camping trip to the beautiful Florida campgrounds you will need some basic camping gear. First, decide which type of shelter you would need for your camping trip. Will you be renting a cabin, pitching a tent, or pulling up in your RV? The second thing to consider is your sleeping area. Will a mattress or cot be provided in your cabin? Does your RV have enough room for the family to sleep? If you are in a tent, will you be comfortable sleeping on the ground or do you prefer an air mattress?
Most Florida state campgrounds offer nice area for the family to camp in a tent. Enjoy Florida's sunny weather while camping in the national forests or find a cozy campsite near the beach. When selecting a camping spot, you will want to find a site with a flat area for your tent and possibly some trees or other shaded area. Often Florida campgrounds will have water, fire pits, and a small sheltered area for each camp site.
When selecting your tent look for one that will protect you from the sun, rain, and insects. Make sure there is enough space for your family to lay comfortably. This tent will also be useful for storing clothes and supplies. Sleeping bags are offered in a wide range of styles and prices. You may want to place you sleeping bag on top of padding or a cot for more comfort. Many Florida campgrounds will give you the opportunity to sleep under the stars because of the nice summer weather.
Other camp grounds forbid it for safety reasons.
If you make it down to the Key West area of Florida you really should try
camping at Boyd's Campground. As a University of South Florida college
student I took many trips down that way and stayed at Boyd's campground.
Make a list of items you will need while camping to ensure that you don't forget anything important. You might want to take charcoal in case dry twigs are not available for a fire. Bring plenty of hot dogs and steaks. Don't forget the spatula. An ice chest is a must for cold drinks. Often Florida campgrounds will have small snack shops where you can purchase items for a meal, but be prepared in case they don't have the product you're looking for. Bring a good book or magazines and enjoy your Florida
state camping trip.
