Florida State Government

 

There are 8 state bodies in Florida State Government.

1. Florida Senate: Florida is recognized as one of the few leaders in progressive laws. Florida Senate is committed to giving the public access to state records. The Senate President will hold his term for two years. Elected by the Florida Senate, the President manages and oversees the Senate sessions. The Presidents duties will include selecting committee chairs and appointing citizens to various boards.

2. Florida House of Representatives: Florida gives public access to bill analyses, filed bills and any amendments. The House of Representatives also includes the Florida Legislature.

3. Courts: Many of the administrative functions are performed by the office of the State Courts Administrator. This Florida government body includes supreme courts, district courts, circuit courts, and county courts.

4. Governor: The Florida governor will sign bills into law. The governor will also hold many senate, cabinet, and private meetings concerning issues with the state. These can include taxes, federal funding, laws, and more.

5. Cabinet: The Florida government cabinet consists of three members elected by the citizens of Florida. Each cabinet member will serve a four year term.

6. State Agencies and Departments: There is a long list of agencies serving Florida, from the Attorney General to the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. Each of these many departments serves the publics needs in different ways. From your child's education to wildlife preservation, there is a government department to help you.

7. State Boards, Commissions, and other offices: There are many boards and commissions that the state of Florida government provides. Under this heading you will find; Independent Living Council, Lottery Commission, Mental Health Institute, and Florida Sports Foundation.
