Gov. Crist joined Florida small business owners from across the state for a meeting in the Governor’s mansion on Tuesday. The governor invited them to have discussions about the various ways the economy is detrimental to their Florida businesses.Florida is home to over two million small businesses. Crist has focused on the economy during several recent public events with businesses and workers.

“We’ve worked so hard with our friends in the Florida House and the Florida Senate, Democrat and Republican alike, to try to reduce the cost of property insurance, reduce the price of property taxes, and the high cost that has put as a burden,” said Crist.

The Governor took the opportunity to ask the group of Florida business owners about whether or not they supported offshore Florida drilling for oil. There were no takers to answer that question.

Florida is experiencing a period of slow growth, and some area of the economy are even in reverse. That’s to be expected as the cycle of recession is not an uncommon one. Small businesses will do well to buckle down and cut costs in every area possible, save their employees and focus on the tried and true business success practices that work for their particular Florida industry.
